1. Avoid draining it completely

Running a lithium battery all the way to zero, over and over, wears it out faster. Recharge when you notice power dropping rather than pushing it until it dies. Topping up partway through does no harm and is actually better for the cells.

2. Don't leave it on the charger indefinitely

Charge the battery to full, then take it off. Leaving a battery sitting on the charger for days at a time generates unnecessary heat and stress. Charge it, unclip it, and store it.

3. Store it around half charge

7. Charge it before long storage — and check on it

Before storing the tool away for the off-season, make sure the battery is at that mid-level charge. If it's stored for several months, check it occasionally and give it a short top-up if it has drifted very low.
