A collar right at the head selects direction: reverse to loosen, forward to tighten. Change direction without pulling the tool back out of the gap you just fed it into.

What batteries does it take?
It runs on 21V lithium packs using the common Makita 18V-style slide mount. If you already own tools on that platform, the batteries you have will slide straight on. Check the mount on your own packs against the photos before ordering.
Will it take off my lug nuts?
No, and please do not try. Wheel nuts are usually torqued far past 59 ft-lbs and often corroded on top of that. This is a ratchet for accessible-but-awkward fasteners; breaking loose seized hardware is an impact wrench's job.
What sockets come with it, and can I use my own?
Eight 3/8" sockets are included, 10 through 17 mm, plus a 3" extension bar and 1/4" and 1/2" adapters so the drive works with the rest of your set. Any standard 3/8" socket fits the drive directly.
