Nobody should be up a ladder holding a chainsaw.

That's the whole argument for a pole saw: the branch comes down and you stay on the ground with both feet planted. And if you have fruit trees, or arthritis, or simply more pruning than your hands can take in an afternoon, electric shears that cut on a trigger pull change what a day of pruning feels like.

The mini chainsaw sits between the two — one-handed, a 6-inch bar, for the limb across the path that is too big for shears and too small to be worth a pole. None of these tools fells a tree. That is still an arborist's job, and we say so on the pages.
